What happens if the other spouse refuses to accept notice?

Refusal to accept summons is treated as “deemed service”. Court may order:
(a) Pasting notice on the door (Order V Rule 17)
(b) Substituted service in newspaper (Order V Rule 20)
After this, court proceeds ex parte.
