What does desertion mean in divorce?

Desertion under the HMA means one spouse has intentionally left the other, without a valid reason, without consent, and with no intention of returning or continuing the marriage. The separation must be real and ongoing, and it must last for at least two continuous years before it can be used as a ground for divorce.
